Making technology choises for long-lived solutions is an interesting challenge. You can oftent do “anything” by sticking to a generic language such as php, java or python, but often a language and technology is better suited to certain kinds of solutions.
Finding the right ballance by sticking to one technology - and building skills and expertice in this - versus choosing the right tool for the right challenge (but never being much more than semi-skilled in the better tool) is often an issue underlooked.
Too mny developers (and non-developers) seems to thing, that language differences mainly is a “syntax issue” - and totally wrong.
